james murphy’s lcd soundsystem is usually too disco-balled and sweaty to compare to the velvet underground, but if new york i love you was the band’s oh! sweet nuthin’, then the soon-to-be-released drunk girls is its white light/white heat, only it’s about vodka tonics instead of amphetamines. it smells like lipstick, public swimming pools, and the third week of june.
